US Route 9 is the main road in Manalapan and throughout the northeast, with State Route 33 passing through its southern section. Other major roads include Routes 522, 527 and 537.
Manalapan Township is conveniently located near the Garden State Parkway, Interstate 195 and the New Jersey Turnpike (I-95), for ease of travel to and from points of interest throughout the metropolitan area.
NJ TRANSIT buses serve Manalapan riders to and from Newark, Jersey City and the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan.
Monmouth Battlefield State Park is a 1,810-acre state park located on the border of Manalapan and Freehold Township. The historic 1778 Battle of Monmouth, one of the largest battles fought during the American Revolution, took place at this site. The battlefields have since been restored, as well as the historic 1746 Craig farmhouse situated there.
Both the field and the Craig house are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
When it comes to live theater, the Center Players Community Theater in Freehold is the source for exceptional performing art talent in Manalapan and its surrounding communities. With every program they produce, Center Players educate and entertain while giving their actors and directors the opportunity to refine their craft.
In nearby Englishtown and Freehold, shoppers can find their paradise in the form of a variety of big and not-so-big retail stores. The Freehold Raceway Mall is just 4.5 miles from Manalapan.
If a rainy day (or any other day) calls for a movie, the multi-screen AMC Loews Freehold Metroplex is the place to be. Located in nearby Freehold, it’s equipped with 14 theaters, a game room and café.
Couch potatoes beware: the Manalapan Recreation Center on Route 522 provides a multitude of facilities that can be used any time throughout the year, including lighted fields for night use.
