Chatham Real Estate Listings and Information

Chatham Borough is a pedestrian-friendly borough in Morris County located twenty-five miles west of New York city.  This picturesque town, nestled along the curves of the Watchung Mountains, was first settled in the 1720’s along the Indian Minisink Trail where the Leni Lenapes (“Original People”) Indians forded the Passaic River.

Within the burough's 2.4 square miles, the community enjoys the simple pleasures of small town living, with numerous annual events including the Fishing Derby at Kelley’s Pond, the Fishawack Festival, the old fashioned fourth of July parade down main street, and the Green Fair.

Charming Victorian homes grace the winding roads lined with oaks, maples and dogwoods. In the quiet evenings, residents can see the lights from New York beyond the crest of the ridge hills of Summit and Short Hills.

Delicious pastries and coffee are found at Main Streets Cafe Beethoven, and late June to mid-November, New Jersey grown produce or locally-baked goods, meat and fish abound at the Farmers Market located at the Railroad Station.

The family friendly 14-acre Sheppard Kolleck Park at the end of Main Street sports two baseball diamonds, an exercise area, a boat launch and a trail along the river.

CNN/Money magazine ranked this charming community as ninth on its annual 100 Best Places to Live in the United States in 2005 and New Jersey Monthly magazine ranked the borough as its 25th best place to live in 2008.
